I like chicken knobs. I have a Roland Cube RX, its a great practice ss amp. I put the drum machine on and riff away. _________________ How many more guitars can I get?

That is why I LOVE my Vox Valvetronix, tons of tones and I have complete control of wattage and volume.
Hey Bytor1975, is it easy to use in that you can get the sounds you want easily in manual mode without going crazy with levels changing as you add/delete effects?
I think you can only save two of your own presets with this amp, does that suit you ok?
It is really a non issue anymore. The AD series has been replaced by the VT series and it has 8 patches that can be saved, controlled by a 4 button footswitch with an A/B for each patch. It also no has a dedicated Reverb knob/control, as opposed as before when it was just one of the effect choices.
But, as far as my older AD, yes, two patches can be saved. It does suit me fine, as I don't gig with it and it is basically a second amp to have around when other people come over OR the first amp I grab when I need a light amp to take to someones house. I just have a nice clean on channel A and a moderatly distorted Marshally tone on B. The only effects I ever use on it is reverb and delay, so that is pretty simple. I really don't have any uses for auto-wah, phaser, and really the chorus.
The new version has 22 amp models as opposed top the 11 in the original. Honestly, the original 11 are the best sounding and useable IMO. I find myself usually only using 4 of the original 11, and as I said earlier 2 of those are saved.
Those amps are really easy to find in stores, you just grab one and go to tweaking. I've still yet to read the manual on mine, and I figured it out really quick. _________________ ~ Jason
What are the cleans like on that one, are they warm? I hear some of the Roland stuff is quite good. Love the JC.
Cleans on the Cube, lol, I rarely go below 10 on gain...I spend my time checking to make the gain is all the way up. I know I have used the acoustic simulator and thought it sounded decent. That amp, for the money, just rules. I have taken it on trips, used batteries the entire time...loud too.
I've been a fan of Roland Jazz Chorus combos since the 80s. The clean chorused, delayed sounds, are so glassy and clean, like no other. Dirty tones egad = have a thin digital tone.

Hey Dark and Bytor, having been hit by a budgetary constraint (bleurggh) I have given up the idea of a boutique amp right now and am looking at other options (like up to US$,1000).
The Valvetronix and Roland SS amps were on the list .... the shop up the road has a nice new Roland JC-120. Hefty 28kg but has castors. I know the distortion is a shocker but with a few pedals ... didn't the Cure and The Cult use JCs?
I agree that a little Valvetronix would be really handy but it's not having the fx loop that bugs me as I've got this cool little Space Echo that I like to use a lot. There'd be just nowhere to put it on the Valvetronix. Although I think the Boutique Clean amp simulation in those is great.
But then the VT100 HAS an fx loop and is the same weight as the JC-120.
My Vox NT has lovely lovely tones but it breaks up TOO early for some of the stuff I want to do. It's a great superb little head/cab setup but not near enough the stuff I want. Really, I want a Fender Deluxe Reissue crossed with a JSX high gain channel all in a nice little package like the NT BUT with fx loop, spring reverb, footswitchable options etc. That would be my dream.
